FAQs

Job Seeker

New HK Jobhunt

You may go through our Product Tour to get familiar with the HK Jobhunt online system.

In the new version of the HK Jobhunt Job Seeker system, various new features are provided to improve job seekers’ experience in job searching and application processes with better usability and greater flexibility.

Streamlined Login Experience

Login using e-mail address instead of username
One of the greatest differences that all job seekers will first experience is the way job seekers log into the system. In the new site, job seekers will no longer login with their username. Instead, they use their registered e-mail addresses to login. One of the greatest advantages of using registered e-mail address for login is that job seekers no longer need to memorize their old-fashioned usernames, especially when most users could not register their first-choice usernames in the first place. Using e-mail address for login also helps reminding job seekers to keep their e-mail address up to date for primary contact purposes.

Login once, use globally
In the previous versions, job seekers interested in international postings have to register and login job seeker accounts at each region. In the new site, job seekers only have to login once, and they will be able to manage their resumes, cover letters, search jobs, apply for jobs, handle resume requests and manage their account settings in all regions.

Enhanced Resume and Cover Letter Management

Create multiple resumes and cover letters
In previous versions, each job seeker account can only create one online resume using the Resume Builder, upload one resume attachment, and create one cover letter in his/her account. Now each job seeker can create up to 10 resumes and 10 cover letters in all regions. These resumes and cover letters can either be prepared online, or be uploaded from local files. This provides a greater flexibility for job seekers to apply for positions of different job natures using their tailor-made resumes and cover letters.

Import contents from existing resumes
Whilst creating a new resume, the system allows you to import the contents of another existing resume. This provides a speedy way for job seekers to create a new resume based on an existing resume and then make further changes.

Resume and Cover Letter Management
In order to manage multiple resumes and cover letters, job seeker will have to give them unique names. Besides creating and editing, resumes and cover letters can also be renamed, or copied as new resume / cover letter (provided that the number of resumes / cover letters has not reached the maximum limit).

Resume Extraction Service
A resume created by uploading a local file can be extracted as plain-text so that employers can search for you more easily, provided that the resume’s exposure level is set to be searchable.

Download online resumes and cover letters as PDF files
Upon online creation of resumes and cover letters, job seekers can download the PDF copies of their online resumes and cover letters for their own references.

Improved Job Searching Features

Define more precise criteria and get more precise search results
Job seekers can specify keywords for searching by matching all of the words, exact phrase or at least one of the words. Job seekers who prefer specific company benefits may also search for jobs by benefits.

View job postings with Preview Mode
Job seekers can view job ads by using the Preview Mode in the Job Search Results page. This saves job seeker a lot of time because they don’t have to open the job ads one by one in order to view the job details.

Multiple Job Alerts
Compared to previous versions in which only one job alert can be subscribed, job seekers who are eager to look for jobs may subscribe to more than one job alert with different job search criteria. Up to 10 job alerts across all regions are supported.

Subscribe to RSS feeds based on job search results
Besides job alert e-mails, job seekers who are familiar with RSS feed subscription may search for jobs based on their own criteria and subscribe to the job search results using their favorite RSS aggregators.

State-of-the-art Job Application Process

Batch Job View and Batch Job Application
You may select multiple job ads on the job search results page to view and/or apply for them in one go. This saves you time to open the job ads and read / apply for them one by one.

Apply for jobs on mobile devices (country-specific)
With the increasing popularity of web applications on mobile devices, the HK Jobhunt Mobile Site & iPhone App supports simple yet effective job search and job application functions that job seekers can always search and apply for their favorite jobs on the go.

Or

Click the Upload My Resume button to upload an existing resume attachment from your local drive.

You can create up to 10 resumes. These resumes can be online resume or resume attachments, and they could be created in any regions.

Resume Request & Resume Exposure Level

Once you have specified the exposure level of a resume to be searchable (i.e. either Searchable but hide my identity or Public) and has created a career profile, employers who perform candidate search regularly may have chances to reach your resume. In such case, employers who feel interested may send you resume requests so that they can view your full resume.

Resume requests are in fact e-mail notifications containing a link to the Resume Request response page sent to your e-mail address registered at HK Jobhunt. From the response page, you can approve the request, reject the request, or even block future requests with specific job position or company name keywords.

You can check the resume requests from employers in the last 3 months in the Resume Request section of HK Jobhunt.

The Resume Exposure Level defines whether a resume is totally searchable (Public), partially searchable (Searchable but hide my identity) or not searchable (Private) by employers:

  • Public (country-specific) – this type of resume will have its contents totally searchable by employers, including all the personal information and working history of the job seeker.
  • Searchable but hide my identity – this type of resume will have its contents partially searchable by employers. Employers will not be able to view the personal information and the last employment record of the job seeker.
  • Private – this type of resume is not searchable by employers.

NOTE: Some regions will not have the “Public” option in order to comply with their privacy legislations. For each job seeker account, only one resume can be set as “Public” or “Searchable but hide my identity” for any one region.

Job Alert

To create a job alert, click the Job Alert tab on the top panel

Specify the job search criteria and frequency on this page. Job Alert frequency defines the regularity of job alert e-mails to be sent to you. It can be sent daily or weekly. For weekly job alert e-mails, they are sent out on the same weekday as your job alert subscription day every week. For example, if you subscribe to the weekly job alert e-mail on Monday, you will receive job alert e-mails every Monday.

Click the Subscribe button to confirm your subscription.

It may be due to one of the following reasons:

  • The system cannot find any jobs for the job alert criteria you defined. Try to check if you have spelt any keywords incorrectly, or re-specify your job alert criteria by eliminating some of conditions. You may click the Show me jobs matching this profile now link in the Job Alert creation confirmation page to check how many jobs are returned based on your job alert criteria.
  • Job alert e-mails include only newly posted jobs matching your job alert criteria since the last job alert e-mail. If you are subscribing to a daily job alert and you receive job alert e-mails only every few days, there may be a great chance that no new jobs were posted in the past few days that match the job alert criteria you specified. If this is an issue to you, you may consider revising the job alert criteria to include more jobs.
  • Sometimes e-mail service providers would misclassify e-mails from HK Jobhunt as spam e-mails. Please see if the job alert e-mail falls into your Spam / Junk mail folder.
  • If you would like to change your registered e-mail address, login the system with your existing e-mail address and password, click the HK Jobhunt tab and click the Account Settings link. Change your e-mail address in the E-mail Address field, and then click the Save Changes button.
